Banderas Bay Responsible Whale Watching Tour Breakdown
Notice:
Whale Watching Season is between December 8th - March 23rd. Any tour conducted before December 8th and after March 23rd are not to be considered a whale watching tour, but a bird and wild life watching tour. Please review before booking: Terms and Conditions.
From the moment you step aboard, Banderas Bay opens up in front of you: open water, distant mountains, and eleven other guests all watching the same horizon for a blow. This is Ocean Friendly's flagship whale watching tour, four hours built entirely around finding Humpback Whales in the wild. After a briefing at the dock, you'll head out looking for Humpback Whales, Oceanic Dolphins, Giant Mantas, and Sea Turtles, with occasional sightings of Bryde's Whales, False Killer Whales, and even Orcas. Your guide, Oscar, is a bilingual marine scientist, not a boat driver reciting a script. He tracks a pod's direction, calls out breaches in time for you to see them, and answer questions in real time. Oscar lowers a hydrophone over the side, and speakers on deck pick up the whale's calls, live, while they're still surfacing nearby. Seeing a Humpback Whale is one thing. Hearing her is another, and Ocean Friendly Tours provides you with the whole Banderas Bay Whale Watching Tour experience. Capped at just 11 guests, there's room to move to whichever side of the boat the action is on. Every guest gets a properly fitted life vest and we serve lunch on board. Lunch includes Snack bars, Turkey Breast and/or Cheese Sub-Sandwiches, Salad on the side, Fruit, Soft-drinks and purified water. Please advise us if anyone in your party has any kind of dietary restriction such as being lactose intolerant or vegetarian. Runs mostly daily during whale season, December 8th through March 23rd. The minimum recommended age to participate is 2+ years old. $3,960 MXN (Approximately $230 USD) per person. Other Whale Watching Tours you might be interested in:

Questions You May Have
How should we prepare for the Banderas Bay Whale Watching Tour?
Bring comfortable clothing in layers, sunscreen, a hat, and a camera. We provide life vests: self-inflatable for adults, certified vests sized for kids, plus dry bags on request. Lunch is included and can be adjusted for dietary restrictions (vegetarian, gluten-free, lactose-free, vegan). Just tell us in advance.
What will we actually see?
Humpback whales are the headline act, plus dolphins, giant mantas, and sea turtles regularly. Some trips turn up Bryde's whales, false killer whales, or orcas. Nothing is guaranteed, it's wildlife, but a bilingual marine scientist is on board reading the water the whole time to increase your chances of seeing these beautiful creatures.
What if someone in our group is over 265 lbs?
Just tell us in advance. We need to know so we can fit the right life vest to every guest. It's a comfort and safety detail, not a judgment call.
When can we book our Banderas Bay Responsible Whale Watching Tour?
The season runs December 8 through March 23. Book your date now. Whale season is fixed, and spots on an 11-guest boat go fast in peak weeks.
